JEB LITTLE
Jeb
Little attended The Ohio
State University for three years as a music education major. Her
education was
interrupted to begin a family. She completed her education at Baldwin-Wallace
College,
graduating magna cum laude in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in
Education.
Mrs. Little has dual certification in Elementary Education and Music
Education.
Her
work at Birchwood
School
over a period of fifteen years
has afforded Mrs. Little the opportunity to teach a wide range of
subjects,
including social studies, science, reading, music and art, at the
primary,
intermediate and junior high levels. One thing that distinguishes Mrs.
Little’s
teaching is that she purposefully weaves reading, music, and art into
any
subject she presents. In her tenure here, she has enjoyed coaching
students in
various competitions, including the National History Day Competition,
Creative
Communications--a yearly student poetry publication, and the
International
Pentel Competition in Art. Her students have won national and
international
recognition in these arenas.
Mrs.
Little has also
contributed to curriculum development and program enhancement. She has
helped
rewrite curriculum for both reading and social studies. For a number of
years
she directed the annual Poetry Show, as well as showcasing the theme
through a
choreographed musical introduction and writing short poems for each
class
introduction. Mrs. Little wrote a general music curriculum and
initially
developed the music program. She created a fine arts curriculum for
junior high
students, and initiated a yearly school-wide Fine Arts Night with
music, art
and drama components. After being away for a short time, Mrs. Little is
thrilled to be back as the 5th and 6th grade reading
teacher.
